National and government funded initiatives

Many countries are investing in a coordinated approach to promoting their country’s healthcare services to international patients. Here are a few examples:

  • Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC)
    The Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council or better known as MHTC was established under the Ministry of Health Malaysia, , highlighting Malaysia as the preferred healthcare travel destination in the Asian region. As an initiative under the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH), its ultimate purpose is to promote and position Malaysia as a unique destination for world-class healthcare services.
  • Turkish Healthcare Travel Council: THTC
    The Council is the Turkey’s largest health tourism organization, with 141 members. It has been working as a health tourism cluster in and outside of Turkey since 2008. The members consist of both national and international members including governmental institutions, hospitals, clinics, medical tourism facilitators, travel agencies, hotels, spa and wellness centers and thermal medical spas.
  • Medical Korea (Korea Health Industry Development Institute – KHIDI)
    Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI) is a public organization that consists of a group of experts dealing with various programs on promoting and developing the health industry in Korea,. Three new KHIDI global business offices have instituted in England, UAE, and Kazakhstan
  • Healthcare UK
    Healthcare UK is a joint initiative of the Department of Health (DH), UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) and NHS England. Aims to help UK healthcare providers to do more business overseas…. by promoting the UK healthcare sector to overseas markets and supporting healthcare partnerships between the UK and overseas healthcare providers.
